Preparing for Solo Motherhood:

Helping you get ready for when your baby arrives

Are you pregnant with a child on your own and starting to worry about what will happen once the baby arrives?

The Preparing for Solo Motherhood course will equip you with the tools, knowledge, and support you need to confidently navigate your pregnancy, birth, and life with your little one as a solo mum.

Becoming a mum is an incredible journey,

but doing it alone is a different kind of courage. If you're pregnant and preparing to raise your baby on your own, this course is for you. It’s about more than just the logistics of birth or the baby essentials—it’s about preparing yourself emotionally, mentally, and practically for what’s to come. I know firsthand how daunting the idea of solo motherhood can be, but I also know the strength that lies in your heart and the power you have to shape your own life, your family, and your future.

Why This Course?

I’m Alisha, and I’ve been exactly where you are. After a decade-long journey of fertility treatments, loss, and hope, I became a solo mum at 39. I know what it’s like to navigate the excitement, the uncertainty, and the million questions running through your mind when you’re preparing to welcome a baby into the world—alone, but never truly alone. I’ve dedicated my life to supporting women who choose this path, and now, I want to help you step into motherhood with the confidence, clarity, and support you deserve.

This course is built from my own experiences and the real-life struggles and triumphs I’ve witnessed from hundreds of other women on the same journey. It’s designed to give you practical tools, emotional support, and the reassurance that you don’t have to do this alone.

What You’ll Get From This Course:

  • Prepare for Birth & Beyond: From setting up your home before birth to knowing exactly what to pack for the hospital and what to expect, this course will make sure you feel ready for the big day. We’ll cover everything you need to know so you can face birth feeling calm, in control, and empowered.

  • Navigate the Fourth Trimester: The first few months with your newborn can be overwhelming, especially when you’re doing it solo. I’ll walk you through how to navigate the challenges of the fourth trimester, setting boundaries, asking for help, and knowing when to get professional advice. You’ll learn how to balance the excitement of new motherhood with the practical steps to take care of yourself—because you matter, too.

  • Master the Financial Realities: Let’s face it—money is a big part of solo motherhood. We’ll discuss the financial considerations you’ll need to take into account, including Centrelink entitlements, budgeting for baby, and how to set yourself up for long-term success. This is one of the most empowering aspects of this course—you’ll feel prepared to handle the financial side of things without stress.

  • Build Your Village: One of the biggest concerns I hear from solo mums is the fear of doing it alone—without support. But the truth is, you can build your support network. We’ll talk about how to create a strong, reliable village to help you with childcare, emotional support, and everything in between. You don’t have to do this in isolation—you’re going to have an incredible group of people around you.

  • Real-Life Experience & Support: This course isn’t just a bunch of theory—it’s packed with real-life advice and personal stories. As someone who’s been where you are, I’ll provide personalised guidance and answer all your questions throughout the course. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with other solo mums-to-be, creating a community of women who truly understand what you're going through.

Spaces are limited, so make sure you reserve yours as soon as possible. I can’t wait to guide you through this journey and support you as you prepare for the adventure of a lifetime.

I'm Alisha, and I have a gorgeous four-year-old daughter I conceived on my own using IVF and an unknown donor. The journey to my daughter took over 10 years. It included multiple rounds of fertility treatment, a divorce, and a stillborn son; then, I finally became a mum six weeks before my 40th birthday. I have interviewed over 100 women and experts through my podcast, "No Need for Prince Charming", and published multiple books supporting women and their donor-conceived children. I also help support solo mums by choice to create their village through my private Facebook groups, meet-ups, and international holidays.

I ended up having my daughter seven weeks into Melbourne’s first lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic - I had no support and no family in the country, but I actually thrived in the slower pace. My over-organised A-type personality was very prepared, so I had a very relaxing introduction to motherhood. If you join my upcoming "Preparing for Solo Motherhood" group coaching, you will get some great advice on preparing before the baby arrives and then some practical tips for navigating the first 12 weeks.

As an added bonus, you'll build a support network of other women at the same stage and be able to get advice from those who are ahead of you. These women may become the SMBC extended family you never knew you needed.
